D2 Folding Knife Instructions

Model: D2 Wilora Folding Knife

Materials: Premium D2 Stainless Steel Blade, G10 Handle

Locking Mechanism: Liner Lock for enhanced safety and ease of use

Operating Instructions:

To open:

This knife features a classic manual opening. To open the pocket knife, use both hands (one hand should hold the handle while the other pulls the blade). Pull the blade out carefully until the knife is entirely open.

Please note that when the blade is fully extended, the liner lock mechanism automatically engages, securely locking the blade in the open position for safe use.

To close:

1. Disengaging the Liner Lock:

To close the knife, manually disengage the liner lock by pressing it to the side. This action releases the lock on the blade.

2. Folding the Blade:

With the liner lock disengaged, carefully fold the blade back into the handle. Ensure a controlled and steady motion to avoid any accidental injury.

3. Safety Precaution:

While closing the blade, keep your fingers away from the blade's path to prevent them from getting caught or injured.

Resharpening Instructions:

Resharpen your knife using a whetstone at an angle of 15 - 20°. This will result in a cutting angle of 30 - 40°. If resharpening on a grinding wheel, always cool it with plenty of water to avoid excessive temperatures and the resulting damage.

Safety:

Learn how to close your knife properly

When closing your pocket knife, first unlock the liner lock and ensure your fingers are entirely out of the way between the blade and knife handle before closing the knife.

Cut away from your body

You must be aware of your entire body and position relative to the knife to ensure your safety. Ensure you’re cutting away from yourself, not toward.

Make sure the cutting path is clear

In addition to cutting away from your body, ensure the general area around you is clear. For example, are there kids running around?

Sharpen your knife regularly

Please consider that sharp knives are safer than dull ones. The sharper your blade, the less downward force you must use to cut whatever you’re using the knife on.

Proper Storage of Your Knife:

To ensure the longevity and safety of your Wilora Folding Knife, it is crucial to store it correctly when not in use. We recommend using the nylon sheath provided with your knife, as it offers protection against environmental factors and prevents accidental injuries. The sheath fits your knife snugly, securing it from moisture and dust. Additionally, store the knife in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and humidity. This precaution helps preserve the blade's sharpness and prevents corrosion. Avoid storing the knife where children or pets can easily access it to ensure safety for all household members.

Maintaining a Dry Knife:

To preserve the quality and functionality of your Double Lock Wilora Folding Knife, it is essential to keep it dry. Moisture can lead to rust and corrosion, diminishing the blade's sharpness and overall integrity. After each use, especially if the knife has been exposed to moisture or wet conditions, thoroughly dry it with a clean, soft cloth. Pay particular attention to drying the joint areas and the blade itself. A dry knife ensures a longer lifespan for the tool and provides safer handling. A wet knife can be slippery, increasing the risk of accidental slips and injuries. Regularly check and maintain your knife's dry condition to ensure peak performance and safe usage.
